David S. Butler, Leesburg Mayor
Dave Butler is the proud Mayor of Leesburg. He was appointed Vice-Mayor in 2013, and appointed Mayor in February 2016 to fill the remainder of the term of then-Mayor Kristen Umstattd. He was a member of the Leesburg Planning Commission, Utility Rate Advisory Committee and Standing Residential Traffic Committee prior to his election to Council in 2008. He also chaired the SE/SW Trails Committee during the summer and fall of 2006. He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University and a M.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Syracuse University. Mayor Butler is currently a member of Christ Church in Lucketts and was previously the treasurer for St. Gabriel's Church in Leesburg. From 2007 to 2009 he was St.Gabriel's Senior Warden, and was instrumental in the expansion of the Alternative Gift Fair in Loudoun County. He also enjoyed reading for Head Start and fixing homes for the Christmas in April program. Mayor Butler is a native of Oswego, NY right on Lake Ontario. After too many snowy winters, he moved to Leesburg in early 2002. He is the International IT Security Liaison for Asurion, LLC in Sterling, VA. He is married to Pamela Butler, President of Loudoun Lyric Opera, and has two sons, Alex and Daniel, who are students at Loudoun County High School.
